Whats the importance of Intuition in Decision Making

Importance of Intuition in Decision Making

Intuition is the ability to understand something in an extreme concentration and effort without the need for conscious reasoning. Intuition plays an essential role in decision-making in rapidly changing environments where there are contradictions in access to data and decisions that center on people and ambiguity due to lack of data. There are several cos of intuition which are discussed below;

Intuition is a powerful and scientifically approved skill that helps in matters of better decisions, giving us more confidence in what we do, as discussed by Malewska (2015). This happens when we use our experiences and feelings when making important decisions. Also, intuition is essential in specific scenarios where decisions need to be made instantly, without considering different aspects of the situation. Such situations are like in the case of an emergency that has occurred, and taking a few seconds to think things through is a matter of life and death. Intuition is superior to the rational decision-making process, based on the analysis of data, where our subconscious mind draws from all these experiences and insights trying to understand patterns or anomalies. Therefore, intuition depends on data since your subconscious is faster and has a broader pool of information to draw from, and it’s more reliable than rational decision-making. Intuition is also crucial to a scientist, researchers’ studies, and the military since it’s an essential skill that helps in the inventions of great ideas and discoveries, hence becoming more significant in our day-to-day life as illustrated by Hermann et al. (2017).

In conclusion, intuition always one to make decisions in complex and unfamiliar situations quickly and effectively. It also helps identify your purpose in life where it can point in the right direction and help you identify dreams which are aligned with your core values and your true sense of purpose. Hence, people who rely on intuition are more open-minded to new ideas.
