You have been assigned the role of team leader for the Peterfields project.
 
Read the email message from Peter Fields, CEO of Peterfields Department stores and the team member’s discussions paper.
 
Complete the following six tasks.

Task 1

You must act like a professional in ways that are ethical, how you act, your honesty, fair play and how you present yourself.
You need to develop a set of guidelines for correct representation.

Task 2

Read the Solutions 1 scenario email message from Peter Fields and the record of discussions from the Solutions 1 team members.
 
You need to make sure all staff members are clear about professional and ethical issues that could impact on us again in the future.
 
Consider the client and the team members’ different points of view.
 
Write a brief report on the conflict of interest and discuss possible resolutions.

Task 3

Many organisations and industry bodies have a Code of Ethics or Code of Conduct or Intellectual property and copyright policy that you can access online. These may be supported by standards and guidelines, and operational forms and documents.
 
Describe 4 positive examples of how IT professionals protect client interests. Include any Legislation and standards or workplace guidelines.

Task 4

This recent experience in Solutions 1 has highlighted the need for a grievance procedure so that staff and clients can feel confident to raise confidential or sensitive matters with management.
There are many examples of policy, processes and quality processes that you can access online.
 
Draft a Grievance Procedure (work procedure) for Solutions 1 and Peterfields to enable confidential reporting of complaints or conflicts arising for staff or clients.

Task 5

Refer to the Australian Computer Society Code of Ethics (www.acs.org.au) and the System Administrators Guild of Australia (www.sageiau.org.au/ethics.html).
Locate these relevant industry codes of ethics for the Solutions 1 scenario.
 
Discuss one of the practices listed in the code and give examples of situations in which the ethical practice would apply.
