Question 1 (1250 words)
You are provided with several relevant concepts and theories and are asked to address at least 2 of these in your answer:

You have chosen to address:
Eccles’ Expectancy Value Theory and
Self-Determination Theory,

You show a good understanding of theory, and are able to apply it to the Romeao family.  You have defined the theories well, and have kept a clear focus on the question. However, there  are few issues I think you could improve upon in the future. You could explain in a little more detail about the Romeao family situation to set a clear scene for your analysis.  I would also like to see you apply more research evidence to support the points you are making. When you do this, it is highly effective, so do it more often!
It’s a good point to provide a summing up/conclusion where you address clearly the question set
A sound, well targeted answer.

Question 2
Here your job is to compare and contrast 2 research instruments, interviews and focus groups. (word count 750)

A really good answer, well researched and well constructed, You  have noted that both are qualitative methods, but could then have defined this. You have  noted that both involve a conversation between the researcher and the participant,  and  could also say that they yield non numerical data.
Differences, strengths and weaknesses
In a focus group the researcher can act as a moderator and maintain the flow of conversation. Unlike in an interview, the participants in the focus group will interact with each other to perhaps reveal information that may not have been gained in a more structured interview.  You have covered some  good points here..
A disadvantage might be that social comparison processes come into play, as each participant may be influenced by the others. You have noted this
Value of interviews, more in-depth information from each individual, individual themes can be pursued. You  have explained this well.

It’s a good point that you have found, and made use of Jones (2014) and Walker (2013).
