The National Resource Center for Justice Involved Women and the American Jail Association developed a series of eight jail tip sheets to facilitate the implementation of genderinformed approaches with women in jail. Each tip sheet includes a brief overview of the topic, selected evidence-based research findings, and brief action steps that jail leadership and staff can take to enhance gender responsive practices. Locate the tip sheets at cjinvolvedwomen.org/jail-tip-sheets. After reviewing the tip sheets, assume you are a jail administrator. How would you encourage “buy-in” from your jail staff to follow research-based guidelines and change your facility’s culture or norms that are based almost exclusively on gender neutral operational practices?
